China's plastic products industry development status and future development prospects.

time2019/08/29

At present, China's plastic products industry is in a critical period of transition from high-speed growth zone to industrial maturity and to the mid-to-high end of the industry. It has changed from high-speed growth to medium-speed and steady growth. The plastic products industry has ushered in new development opportunities and business situations.
1.Market size of the plastic products industry
After decades of rapid development, China's plastic products industry has undergone tremendous changes. During the “Twelfth Five-Year Plan” period, China's plastic products industry continued to develop in the adjustment, transformation and upgrading of industrial structure. In recent years, China's plastic products industry has maintained a rapid development trend, with production and sales ranking first in the world, of which plastic products accounted for about 20% of the world's total output. According to statistics, in 2017, the number of enterprises above designated size in China's plastics processing industry increased by 15,350 from 12,963 in 2011. As the market competition intensified, the concentration of the industry was further enhanced. In the same period, the income from the main business of enterprises above designated size increased from 1,558.4 billion yuan. To more than 2.28 billion yuan, the compound annual growth rate is 7.93%.
From January to August 2018, the accumulated main business income of plastic products manufacturing enterprises was 1,242.63 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 6.5%; the total profit was 62.49 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 0.8%.
During the period from 2011 to 2018, the changes in the main business income of enterprises above designated size in China's plastic products industry are as follows:

2.The import and export of plastic products industry
In recent years, thanks to the boosting effect of China's “stable foreign trade” policy, domestic plastic products exports maintained a good growth trend. According to statistics, from 2011 to 2017, China's plastic products exports increased from 7.95 million tons to 11.73 million tons; in the same period, plastic products exports increased from 23.684 billion US dollars to 39.81 billion US dollars. Generally speaking, under the favorable policy, China's plastic products industry exports will show a steady growth trend.
From March to June 2018, the export volume of China's plastic products showed an upward trend. In June 2018, the export volume of China's plastic products was 1.185 million tons, an increase of 11.8%. In July 2018, the export volume of China's plastic products declined. From August to September, China's plastic products exports rebounded. In September 2018, China's plastic products exports amounted to 1.183 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 23.2%.
From January to March 2018, the export value of China's plastic products decreased significantly. In March 2018, the export value of China's plastic products was US$25.30 million, down 22.5% year-on-year. From April to June 2018, the export value of China's plastic products showed an increasing trend. In June 2018, the export value of China's plastic products was US$39.67 million, a year-on-year increase of 14.3%. In July-September 2018, the export value of China's plastic products rebounded. In September 2018, the export value of China's plastic products was 3.889 billion US dollars, an increase of 18.5%.

3.The distribution of plastic products industry
China's plastic products industry has a high degree of regional concentration, and has gradually formed a pattern of rapid development in other regions with East China, Central China and South China as core production areas. China's top six provinces and cities (Zhejiang, Guangdong, Henan, Hubei, Jiangsu, Sichuan) accounted for more than half of the national market. Among them, the output of plastic products in Zhejiang Province was 107.297 million tons, accounting for 13.90% of the national plastic products market, ranking first in the country. In the future, with the rapid increase in demand for plastic products in the automotive, consumer electronics, medical and other industries, the regional distribution of China's plastic products industry will be more reasonable.

4.The development trend of plastic products industry
At present, China's plastic products industry is in a critical period of transition from high-speed growth zone to industrial maturity and to the mid-to-high end of the industry. It has changed from high-speed growth to medium-speed and steady growth. The plastic products industry has ushered in new development opportunities and business situations.
(1) The market space is large and the industry will continue to grow.
With the gradual transformation and upgrading of the industrial structure, the proportion of high-end products has gradually increased, the functions of basic supporting services have been continuously improved, the output of plastic products has continued to grow, the market space is still large, and the output value can maintain a high growth rate, which is the basis for meeting the general needs of society. Under the circumstance of steady growth in the application field, the high-end application field is gradually strengthening. It can be seen that the plastic products industry is still in the stage of rising development, and the transformation and upgrading is steadily advancing. The development trend of “plasticizing steel” and “plasticizing wood” provides a broad market space for the development of plastic products industry. In the future, with the technological advancement and consumption upgrade of China's modified plastics, China's plastic products industry will continue to grow.
(2) Sustainable development of industrial clusters.
In terms of industrial layout, East China, South China and Central China are relatively concentrated areas of China's plastic products industry, forming a group of industrial clusters with greater influence. Under the strong promotion of national and local government policies, the construction of industrial clusters will be carried out in the next step around the implementation strategies of green, ecological, low-carbon, and recycling, from simple processing operations to high-tech, high value-added The entire industry chain extends. Thereby promoting the stable, healthy and sustainable development of the plastic processing industry cluster, and further enhancing the overall competitiveness of the plastics industry.
(3) Rapid promotion and application of new materials and new technologies.
In recent years, China's plastic products industry has developed rapidly, and many new materials and technologies have emerged. For example, plastic modified materials, engineering plastics, plastic alloys and plastic composite materials continue to expand in the automotive, aircraft, high-speed rail, electronic appliances, information, medical and agricultural applications; electromagnetic heating energy-saving technology, aerogel insulation energy-saving technology, The two-plate machine technology of injection molding machine, plastic dynamic molding technology, co-directional conical twin-screw technology, servo drive and control technology have greatly improved the energy-saving efficiency and production technology level of the plastics processing industry.
In addition, new molding technologies such as super-shear plasticization, power ultrasonic plasticization, micro-lamination technology, etc. are applied to the plastic processing process, which not only improves the processing technology level, but also effectively reduces the energy consumption in the production process. In the future, as the market demand continues to expand, new materials and technologies in the plastics industry will be further promoted and applied.
